Youth Financial Education

We realize the importance of developing good financial habits at an early age. That's why Coastal offers the High School Financial Planning Program free of charge to schools and youth groups.

Coastal Offers Free Financial Education Program for Students.

Last year alone, American teenagers spent more than $172 billion. They wield tremendous buying power, yet only a small percentage of them learn about managing that power before they graduate from high school. Sadly, without a sound financial education, millions may face excessive debt, bad credit and possible bankruptcy before they finish college. By the time they're ready to enter the workforce, many will have a credit history that will prevent them from having access to affordable credit, and even from gaining employment.

That's why Coastal offers the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) High School Financial Planning Program free of charge to schools and youth organizations. Coastal realizes that it's important for teens to learn - as early as possible - good financial habits that will allow them to manage their money responsibly. We know that it's critical that they learn now, before they have a chance to develop habits that might deny them financial opportunities in the future.

If you have a class or youth group that is interested in learning about financial responsibility, we can provide you with everything you need, including student workbooks and a teachers manual, to teach kids about:

  • Using a Credit Union
  • Earning Money
  • Planning
  • Budgeting
  • Saving & Investing
  • Using Credit Wisely
  • Protecting Your Assets
