Important Changes To Your Account Statement

Coastal is making a number of changes to our account statements. These changes are designed to allow us to be more effective and efficient in the way we provide account information. They will first appear in your December statement, sent in early January.

The following changes will appear in both paper statements and e-Statements:

  • Addition of a loan payment coupon page – payment coupons for any loans -except credit cards, which are sent separately - will now be included as the last page of your monthly statement. Members impacted most are those with auto loans, since we will no longer be mailing coupon books. This feature will be available in the January 2010 statements mailed in February.

  • Switch to Monthly Statement Cycles – As we previously announced, beginning in January, all statements will be sent monthly. If you are accustomed to getting only quarterly statements or occasional monthly statements, you will now always get a monthly statement.

  • Elimination of the rate sheet – Because rates are subject to change daily and rate sheets must be sent to print prior to statement production, by the time they appear in your statement they may already be outdated. Our most up-to-date rates are available on the rates page of our Web site.

  • Year-to-date overdraft information - Starting in 2010, we will be required to print monthly and yearly aggregate totals of all the overdraft and insufficient funds fees that a member incurs each year.

  • Removal of the check register reconciliation worksheet - The worksheet is being removed to make room for additional regulatory disclosures.

Lastly, as a reminder, in an effort to cut costs and be a greener business, we are making e-Statements the preferred method of delivery. If you haven't done so already, please enroll in e-Statements before January 1st. Enrolling is easy and it's free! Simply login to Online Banking and click the e-Statements link to get started.

If you do not wish to enroll in e-Statements and prefer to keep receiving a paper statement, we will gladly continue to provide that service for a $2 monthly fee. Paper, printing and postage costs continue to rise, and as the majority of our members opt for electronic notification, it's fair that we ask only those who choose the more expensive paper option to help share in that cost. Again, you can avoid the fee by enrolling in e-Statements prior to January 1st.
