Coastal Credit Union Announces Mortgage Hires and Promotions

Coastal Credit Union has announced several staffing updates to its mortgage team, as part of an ongoing effort to enhance the member experience and grow business in the Triangle market.

• Susan Buchanan has been hired as Manager of Underwriting & Closing Operations. Buchanan brings 25 years of mortgage origination and underwriting experience to Coastal, including 11 years in credit unions.
• Gordon Smith has been hired as Construction Lending Director and will be managing Coastal’s re-entry into construction-to-permanent home loans. Smith brings more than 24 years of mortgage lending experience to Coastal.
• Karen Wood has been promoted to Manager of Processing/Post Closing Operations. Wood joined the Coastal team in 2016 as a Senior Mortgage Loan Coordinator. She has 34 years of banking experience in mortgage, branch operations, and loss prevention.
