Four Ways You Can Qualify for Membership

  • By Employment

    You’re qualified to join Coastal Credit Union if you’re employed by one of the hundreds of eligible associations, organizations, or businesses we partner with. 

  • By Family Membership

    If you’re an immediate family and household member of someone who has already joined Coastal, you are also eligible to become a Coastal member. Immediate family is defined as a spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, grandchild, stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, and anyone in an adoptive relationship. A household is defined as anyone living in the same residence, maintaining a single economic unit.

  • By Community Charter

    You can join Coastal if you live or work in the cities of Littleton, NC; Weldon, NC; Aurelian Springs, NC; Airlie, NC; Halifax, NC; Arcola, NC; Hollister, NC; Brinkleyville, NC; Heathsville, NC; Tillery, NC; Enfield, NC; Scotland Neck, NC; Whitakers, NC; Castalia, NC; Red Oak, NC; Dortches, NC; Leggett, NC; Wrendale, NC; Speed, NC; Nashville, NC; Rocky Mount, NC; West Edgecombe, NC; Woodcrest Park, NC; and Tarboro, NC. This includes anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in, and does business and other legal entries located in Vance County, NC.

  • By joining the Sustainable Energy Association (NCSEA)

    This non-profit membership organization consists of individuals, businesses, governments, and non-profits interested in North Carolina's sustainable energy future. By choosing to join NCSEA, you qualify for Coastal Credit Union membership. The $18 NCSEA membership fee will be deducted from your initial deposit to your Coastal Primary Savings account.

There are simple steps to Join Coastal:
  • First, Choose a Product: It all starts by opening a Savings Account. You can then choose another product, such as – Go Green Checking, a credit card, a Coastal Mortgage, or an Auto Loan.
  • Next, Complete the Application: Fill out the application for the product you want online or visit one of our branches for personalized assistance.
  • Welcome to Coastal! Once your account or loan is set up, you're officially a Coastal Credit Union member!
Coastal Credit Union Membership is free to eligible applicants. You simply need to deposit $25 into a primary savings account. If you are joining though the NCSEA, there may be a fee associated with them.
Coastal Credit Union has 22 branches conveniently located throughout central North Carolina. Coastal members also have access to a nationwide network of surcharge-free ATMs.
We have three options to qualify for membership if you live outside NC:

At Coastal, we have technology in place so you can access your account from wherever you are, whenever you need it. We have 22 branches with extended Teller Hours from 7 am — 7 pm, 7 Days a Week conveniently located throughout central North Carolina and a nationwide network of surcharge-free ATMs. If you need account access on the go, we offer mobile and online banking for greater convenience.
Deposits are federally insured up to a total of $250,000 per ownership interest by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). We also offer 24/7 fraud monitoring, including customized fraud text alerts with Coastal debit and credit cards.
