Like all financial companies, we need to share our members' personal information to manage our everyday operations. Below, we list the reasons why financial companies share personal information, why Coastal Credit Union chooses to share, and whether you can limit this sharing.

How Coastal Protects Your Personal Information
We use security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, as required by federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.
How Coastal Collects Your Personal Information
We collect your personal information when you:
- Open an account or deposit money
- Pay your bills or use your credit or debit card
- Apply for financing
We also collect your personal information from other sources, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.
Why Can't You Limit All Sharing?
Federal law allows you to limit only:
- Sharing for affiliates' everyday business purposes, such as information about your creditworthiness
- Affiliates using your information to market to you
- Sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you
State law and individual companies may offer additional rights to limit sharing.
Coastal's Definitions
Affiliate: Companies related by common ownership or control, which can be financial or nonfinancial companies. Our affiliates include companies with names like Daymark Realty LLC, Coastal Title LLC, and Coastal Federal Financial Group.
Nonaffiliate: Companies not related by common ownership or control, which can also be financial or nonfinancial companies. Coastal Credit Union does not share with nonaffiliates for marketing purposes.
Joint Marketing
Joint marketing involves formal agreements between nonaffiliated financial companies that collectively market financial products or services to you. Our joint marketing partners may include advertising/marketing agencies, credit card companies, loan programs, financial advisors, and insurance companies.
Geolocation Information
Our Controls & Alerts App may collect and use geolocation information to prevent fraudulent card use and send alerts, but only with your express authorization. You can control location permissions in your device settings at any time.
