How to Use Pay A Person

Log In to Digital Banking – you can pay a person on a desktop or with our Mobile App.2

Pay a Person is located in the menu right at the top

Simply add the name and details of who you want to pay

Confirm and send your payment, and you’re done! The money will reach the recipient within 2 business days

Frequently asked questions about our Pay A Person.

A recipient will receive their funds within two business days of claiming the funds. The money will be removed from your account after 5:00 pm (Eastern Time) on the day the recipient claims the funds. Recipients have seven days from the 'Send On' date to claim the funds. If funds are not claimed within seven business days, the link to claim them will expire, and the money will stay in your account.
Yes. A new member (less than 90 days) has these limits to pay a person:
  • minimum Person to Person amount of $5
  • maximum amount to any one payee of $5,000
  • maximum daily amount of $5,000
  • maximum weekly amount of $20,000
  • maximum monthly amount of $20,000
An established member has these limits to pay a person:
  • minimum Person to Person amount of $5
  • maximum amount to any one payee of $10,000
  • maximum daily amount of $10,000
  • maximum weekly amount of $40,000
  • maximum monthly amount of $40,000
Yes, as long as the recipient has not completed the verification process and claimed the funds, you can still cancel the payment.

In your online banking, select 'Pay a Bill or Person,' select 'View Activity.' Select the down arrow on the appropriate person. Select 'Delete Payment,' select 'Yes,' Delete Payment to confirm.

In the app, select 'Bill Pay,' select 'Payments.' Select the pencil on the appropriate person. Select 'Delete Payment,' select 'Yes,' Delete Payment to confirm.
Pay a Person is a free service for Coastal members. There are no fees if the recipient chooses a bank transfer to receive the money.
Yes, end-to-end encryption is utilized. When using Pay a Person, you will set up a security question and answer for your recipient to answer the first time you do a transaction together. The security question is designed to be a question only the recipient of the funds would know the answer to. This is to ensure the payment is being sent to the correct person at the indicated mobile phone number or email. There are a limited number of attempts a recipient can make to answer the security question correctly before the transaction is canceled automatically.
You can send money to anyone with a United States based bank account and United States based mobile phone number.
