Coastal Credit Union Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Unveil Latest Home
On June 29, the Coastal Credit Union Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County celebrated the nonprofit’s newest homebuyers in the Gattis Court community in Chapel Hill. Officials from the Town of Chapel Hill joined representatives from the foundation, Coastal Credit Union, Compass Center and Habitat for Humanity for the ceremony. The Gattis Court home and another in Durham were funded by $200,000 in grants from the foundation.
Located in the Historic Northside Neighborhood, Gattis Court is in the heart of the community and within walking distance to the Hargraves Community Center. Construction began on these homes in 2022, and the dedication event marks just weeks until four families become first-time homebuyers.
“Coastal’s mission is helping people bank better to live better,” said Tyler Grodi, Coastal’s president & CEO. “There is nothing that says, ‘better living’ than having a home to call your own. I encourage other businesses and the community as a whole to give your continued support and involvement to Habitat, so that families can build a better future.”
“We are deeply grateful to the Coastal Credit Union Foundation for their incredible partnership with Orange Habitat the Gattis Court community,” said Jennifer Player, President and CEO of Orange Habitat. “Their unwavering support and dedication, both financially and through hands-on volunteer efforts, exemplify the true spirit of community partnership and their core values of uplifting their neighbors and communities. Together, we are creating homes and fostering connections that will enrich the lives of families for generations to come.”
The second home, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Durham, will be dedicated on July 13. Both houses are dedicated in honor of former Coastal CEO Chuck Purvis and his wife, Gail, longtime supporters of Habitat for Humanity.
