David Fernandez Joins Coastal as VP, Internal Audit

Coastal Credit Union has hired David Fernandez as the organization’s new VP, Internal Audit. He will report to directly to Coastal’s Supervisory Committee and will lead the credit union’s audit services team.

In his role, he will be responsible for providing independent, objective assurance services to management and the Supervisory Committee in a way that’s designed to add value and improve Coastal's operations, as well as helping Coastal accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of its risk management, control, and governance processes.

Fernandez joins Coastal from Credit Suisse, where he was most recently a VP of Internal Audit.  He brings with him nearly 18 years of audit experience, and has worked across a variety of industries, both locally and internationally. He is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, and holds a Masters degree in Accounting from UNC Greensboro.
