Your Money Has Potential. Put It to Work.
Why not give your money a chance to do more?
You’ve worked hard to save it. A certificate (CD) can put some of those dollars to work, helping them grow steadily while you focus on what’s next.
Do you have money sitting in a savings account?
Maybe it’s tucked away at another bank. (We won’t judge.)
Maybe you’ve been saving for something down the road and won’t need those dollars anytime soon.
If that sounds familiar, it may be worth taking another look at what your savings is doing for you and whether opening a certificate (CD) with Coastal could be your next step.
So, what exactly is a certificate (CD)?
Think of a certificate (CD) as a way to put some of your savings on a schedule.
You deposit your money for a set amount of time, called the term. In return, you earn dividends at the certificate's APY during that term.
The idea is pretty simple.
You set the money aside, let it work for a while, and get higher dividends in return.
What's the difference between a Choice Certificate and a CD?
There's just one basic difference: Credit unions and banks call the same product different names.
At credit unions, they’re called Share Term Certificates, like our Choice Certificate. At banks, they’re called Certificates of Deposit, or CDs.
Right now, Coastal has given those dollars a little more incentive.
Certificate (CD) rates have increased for a limited time, with rates as high as 4.50% Annual Percentage Yield (APY)19.
| Certificate Term | APY |
| 6 Month | 4.00% |
| 12 Month | 4.15% |
| 15 Month Jumbo* | 4.20% |
| 24 Month | 4.25% |
| 27 Month Jumbo* | 4.40% |
| 60 Month | 4.50% |
*Jumbo certificates (CD) require a minimum deposit of $100,000. Rates are effective September 28, 2026, and are available for a limited time.

Choose from a range of terms to fit your saving strategy. Minimum deposits start at just $250.
Which one is right for you?
Start with a much simpler question: When will I need this money?
Need it sooner?
A 6-month or 12-month certificate (CD) could be worth considering for savings you expect to leave alone for a shorter period.
Thinking a little farther ahead?
A 15-month or 24-month certificate (CD) may fit money you're comfortable setting aside for a longer stretch.
Have money you really won't need for years?
The 60-month certificate (CD) offers a five-year term. Coastal also offers 15-month and 27-month jumbo certificates (CD) for deposits of $100,000 or more.
The highest rate isn't automatically the right choice. Your timeline matters, too.
Create additional flexibility and possibilities while your savings grow.
A certificate (CD) ladder can help your savings grow while giving you opportunities to access portions of your money over time. It’s a simple way to make your savings work toward what’s next, without putting all your eggs in one basket.
The laddering strategy gives you opportunities to access portions of your money over time. It’s a simple way to make your savings work toward what’s next, without tying up your money.
How it works:
Say you have $10,000 to invest. Instead of putting the entire amount into one 5-year certificate (CD), you could divide it into five $2,000 certificates:
| Certificate (CD) | Term | Matures |
| $2,000 | 1 year | Year 1 |
| $2,000 | 2 year | Year 2 |
| $2,000 | 3 year | Year 3 |
| $2,000 | 4 year | Year 4 |
| $2,000 | 5 year | Year 5 |
What about the money you have at another bank?
Take a look around.
You may have money at Coastal but a different savings account somewhere else. Maybe it started with an old account. Maybe you opened another account for a specific goal. Maybe you simply haven't gotten around to moving it. It happens.
If you have money sitting somewhere else that you won't need for a while, it may be worth comparing your options.
It’s time to give your savings a new job.
You don't have to figure it all out at once.
You can open a certificate (CD), schedule an appointment, or visit a Coastal branch to explore your options and talk through what may fit your savings goals.
Sometimes the first step isn't moving your money. It's simply taking a closer look at what it's doing today.
